Unknown people attack Hirshabelle palace with hand grenades

Unidentified assailants have attacked The presidential palace of Hirshabelle in Jowhar town of Middle Shabellle region.

Several hand grenades were thrown into palace on Friday night before the assailants managed to escape. A local resident in Jowhar told Goobjoog News.

“Several hand-grenades were thrown into the building before the assailants escaped,” said the resident.

Terrified residents in the neighborhood rushed to homes following intense fire discharge after the attack.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack, but Alshabab have claimed the responsibility of such previous attacks.

The group was pushed out of Mogadishu by African Union and Somali government forces in 2011, but has continued to mount periodic attacks in the city and other towns.
