Head of NISA Middle Shabelle region killed in jowhar

A security officer killed the head of Somali intelligence agency of Middle Shabelle region, Abdiweli Ibrahim Mohamed in Jowhar town on Tuesday night, a witness said.

Mohamed was killed in his office by a man identified as Mohamed’s bodyguard after an argument sparked between the two, according to a security official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The source said the bodyguard also injured the deputy head of NISA in the region, Muse Afweyne who was in the office and Afweyne was taken to Jowhar Hospital for treatment.

The security forces of Somalia have shortly arrived at the scene and arrested the bodyguard in connection with the murder, according to another officer who identified himself as Abdifatah.

Violence was not common in  Jowhar which enjoyed a relative stability for months.
