Heavy rains cause floods in Kenya

Storyline:World

At least 29 people have died in landslides caused by bad weather affecting the West Pokot area in western Kenya.

The landslides affected by the villages of Nyarkulian and Parua are reportedly due to heavy rainfall.

Officials said floods had cut off the roads leading to those villages, and at least one bridge was reported that has collapsed.

President Uhuru Kenyatta said in a statement that he sends “deep condolences to relatives and friends of the victims and emergency relief will arrive soon the locations happened the tragedy.”

Seven children are among the bodies that have been recovered so far, officials said.
