Hiraan governor impeached for diversion of aid

The governor of Hraan Yussuf Ahmed Hagar Dabageed has been accused of diversion of aid which was intended to be distributed to residents Hiraan region.

The head of Bulloburde humanitarian coordinator, Adan Mohumed Hambe said the governor was responsible for the diversion of aid which was due to be distributed to the locals.

“It is unfortunate that someone claiming be government official to plunder food aid intended to be given needy people which donated by Turkey government” Hambe said.

He noted some of the aid supplies went to the black market when people of Bulo-burde are facing food shortage.

Bulo-burte, which is some 200 km north of the capital Mogadishu, has been under a humanitarian crisis situation after Al-Shabaab militants who were pushed out from the town two years ago blocked the roads leading into the towns and refusing transportation of goods.

Earlier last Turkey dispatched a ship carrying food aid to Somalia.

After the ship docked Mogadishu port, Somali government has distributed the aid the country’s regions.
