Hirshabelle officials killed in Balcad bomb blast

Information from the explosion says death and injury were reported today on the outskirts of Balcad district in Middle Shabelle region.

The blast which was a landmine was carried out by Al Shabab militant to the convoy escorting  Deputy Governor of the Middle Shabelle region.

Deputy Finance Minister Abdullahi Shitawe and former Minister of Commerce Sabriye Osman who left Balcad district on the way to Jowhar were confirmed dead.

It was also reported that Hassan Ahmed Baldos a member of the aid workers in the district was killed in the incident.

Al-Shabab fighters displayed Saturday the dead bodies of AMISOM and Somali troops in Somalia’s southern rebel-held port city of Kismayo, reports said.

On the road between Jowhar town and Balcad district in Middle Shabelle region, there have been several attacks and explosions that killed MPs and officials from Hirshabelle administration which claimed responsibility for Al-Shabaab.
