Jubbaland MP killed in car bomb attack

GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO:   A regional lawmaker was Saturday evening killed in a car bomb attack in Kismayo.

Sources said the MP identified as Khalif Hashim Moge (pictured) from Jubbaland was killed after an explosive device suspected to have been planted on his car blew up.

The death is the first for a senior government official in 2021. The militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack comes barely a week after a passenger vehicle hit a landmine between Tabta and Dhobley area in Lower Jubba region killing seven people. The bus is said to have been travelling from Kismayo to the Dhobley located near the border with Kenya.

Among the dead were a mother and her baby.
