Kenya pledges to support Somalia’s new administration

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said his government is committed to work with Somalia’s new administration.

“I assure you of Kenya support, my admin will stay steadfast in search for sustainable peace in Somalia: Kenyatta,” said Uhuru speaking at the inauguration ceremony of president Farmaajo.

Kenyatta who welcomed the new administration for Somali people said “You assume office at a time of great expectation; this is both here and in the Diaspora.”

Uhuru commended the peaceful power transfer which major achievement for Somalia.

President is expected to leave the country in the forthcoming hours.

Mogadishu is in complete lock down as many leaders from East African countries and rest of the continent are attending the historical inauguration of president Farmaajo.

Mogadishu Airport, roads and major streets in the capital remain closed until the inauguration ceremony is concluded.

Farmajo won the February Somalia election, defeating 19 candidates including former leader Hassan Sheikh.
