NAIROBI: Kenyan police have released photos of eight suspects believed to have been part of the team, which planned and executed a terror attack in Nairobi last week, which left 21 people dead.

In a statement, police warned the public that the eight were believed to be armed and dangerous and asked the public to call or SMS immediately if they see the suspects identified as; Didu Mohamed Fugicha, Boru Abdi Bidu, Ramadhan Wario Bonaya, Abdi Ali Kachora, Gaddafi Aka Munene, Omari and Hussein Addan Hussein.

The police, however, did not release the identity of one other suspect. Last week Tuesday, Kenyan police killed four terrorists while one blew himself up at the onset of the attack.

On Friday, the Kenyan Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) was given thirty days to detain five other suspects – including a Canadian who had been arraigned in a Nairobi court last week over the attack on 14 Riverside Drive.

Kenya’s Director of Public prosecution Noordin Haji said that investigations on the suspects were at an advanced stage. The suspects include Joel Ng’ang’a Wainaina, Oliver Kanyango Muthee, Gladys Kaari Justus, Guleid Abdihakim (Canadian) and Osman Ibrahim.

Haji said in a statement on Friday that investigations into the terror incident on 14 Riverside Drive are complex and transnational adding that “sufficient time was needed to uncover the entire criminal syndicate.”

“I have appointed a team of prosecutors to offer technical guidance to the investigators on a continuous basis so as to ensure the investigations are meticulous and fast-tracked and those that must be prosecuted are held to account as soon as the investigations are complete,” he said.

Haji assured that his office will do everything possible to ensure those who organized and funded the terrorist attack are brought to justice.
