Khatumo state plans to open talks with Somaliland

The administration of Khatumo state in Northern Somalia stated that they will not open any dialogue with the breakaway state of Somaliland until Silanyo’s administration will recognize Khatumo as independent administration.

The newly elected president of Khatumo state Ali Khalif Galeyr giving exclusive interview to Goobjoog FM said Somaliland forces have forcefully entered the territories of Khatumo state adding that many people died and other displaced from the houses during the clashes with Khatumo forces.

“ negotiations can start if Somaliland recognize the autonomy of Khatumo state and withdrew its forces from Khatumo territories” Galeyr said.

Mr. Khalif stated that his administration is ready to open discussions with Somaliland so as to give peace and stability chance.

On the other hand, Khatumo president Ali Khalif Galeyr said he has taken discussions with Puntland leaders through telephone but no agreement reached between the sides.

He stated that he hopes to strengthen the talks between Puntland and Khatumo states so as to build up security and integration between the people.

He accused Puntland administration of funding individuals against the independence of Khatuo administration and the will of its people.

Finally Mr. Galeyr underlined that Khatumo’s relations with federal government of Somalia is not to the point as they missed the government’s solidarity and support to the administration and the people of Khatumo state.

Ali Khalif Galaydh a serving member of federal parliament and former prime minister of Somalia has been elected as the President of Khatumo state in northern Somalia on mid August 2014 in a hostly contested presidential elections after he garnered 21 votes out of the 31 votes casted.
