Kuwait to host conference on Education in Somalia

Kuwait is scheduled to host a donor conference on Education in Somalia later this year, Somali Foreign Minister Abdusalam Omer announced Friday after meeting with First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Speaking to KUNA after the meeting, Omer said preparations were ongoing for Kuwait to host the conference before end of this year. He did not specify a date.

The donor conference to support education in Somalia will be held in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ALESCO) and the Islamic Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

Omer meanwhile said he and Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled agreed to work on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation.

He added that they discussed a host of issues of mutual concerns in Somalia, Yemen, Arab and Islamic countries.

He said they also talked about how Kuwait would support peace in Somalia, and possible opening of Kuwait’s Embassy in the African country.
