Local government officer killed in Mogadishu

Unidentified men armed with pistols have gunned down a city council officer on Thursday evening in Dharkeynley district in Mogadishu.

Abdi Farah Ali, resident in Dharkeynley district said two pistol-wielding hooded men shot dead Bashiir Mohamed Mohamud at Ajibka nighbourhood in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley district.

“The officer was killed by two men who were armed with pistols,” said Ali.

Police officers cordoned off the scene shortly after the execution of the military force member and launched an investigation into the incident, according to the eyewitness.

The local authority did not issue a statement of the officer’s assassination.

No group has yet claimed credit for the killing.
