MP Afaraale: Federal government is accountable for the death of civilians in Baidoa protest

A member of federal parliament of Somalia stated that the top government leaders in Baidoa will take the responsibilities of the people that were killed during the mass rally in Baidoa on Monday.

Mohamed Hussein Issak aka Afarale, a member of parliamentary defense committee told Goobjoog FM that the rally in the city was organized by the residents of Baidoa who were presenting their views but the government failed to honour their will.

Mr. Afarale stated that two people among the protestors died after the government forces opened fire on the crowds that gathered on the streets of the town.

The MP added that the politicians in Baidoa, the headquarters of Bay region are inciting and creating hostilities between the people in Bay and Bakol regions.

Hundreds of protesters carrying placards and banners chanting anti government slogans took into the streets of Baidoa on Monday ahead of prime minister’s visit to the city. The residents were against the visit of Somali Prime minister Abdiweli Sheikh who was expected to come to the town.
