New environmental policy kicks off in Puntland

Somali Prime minister in collaboration with Puntland administration today launched new environmental policy to protect vegetation, conserve environment and curb deforestation in the region.
This program was presented by the ministry of environment and tourism of Puntland state to improve the awareness of the community to play their role of keeping the environment safe.
The minister for environment of Putland administration Gulled Salah Barre underlined that the administration is giving first priority the fight against deforestation and burning of charcoal.
The meeting which was held at of PDRC center in Garowe was attended by Somali prime minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed and Puntland president Abdiweli Mahamed Ali Gas, Mr. Gas described the initiatives as mile stone and step forward.
On his side the prime minster of federal government praised this new policy and urged Puntland administration to double their efforts of giving priority to developmental programs in the region so as to bring services closer to the people.
