Newly elected MP from Puntland Daahir Geele passes on in Garowe

Newly elected MP from Puntland Daahir Geele died last night in a hospital in Garowe after he was rushed there following sudden illness, the family has said.

The MP who was elected last week to serve in the incoming federal parliament served as MP for eight years since 2009 to date. He was seconded to the Arab League Parliament from 2012 where he concluded his last assignment before re-election last week.

Geele also served as deputy minister for Youth, Labour and Sports.
