Ninety-four killed in protests over Hacaalu’s death

At least more than 94 people have been killed in Ethiopia after the death of a popular singer sparked huge protests in the Oromia region.

Thousands of fans had gathered to mourn Hachalu Hundessa, who was shot dead on Monday night while driving in the capital Addis Abba.

According to Police, 56 people including prominent politician Jawar Mohammed, have been arrested accused of civilian’s killings.

Apart from received death threats, Hacaalu Hudessaa was imprisoned for five years at the age of 17 years old for taking part in protests.

So far two people have been arrested in connection with the killing, Hacaalu’s killing remains unclear.

The prime minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed has expressed condolences to the singer’s family and promised a full investigation to the assassination of the artist killed in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
