At least one person died and another one severely wounded after two clan militias exchanged fire in Abud-wak district in Somalia’s central region of Galgadud on Tuesday.

The casualties are said to be civilians. The fighting is believed to have been caused by land disputes.

A freelance journalist Ayanle Abdullahi in Abud-wak has confirmed the fighting to Goobjoog FM saying the wounded person has been admitted to Abud-wak hospital for treatment.

The situation is now calm. The local administration and elders in the region are engaging with the two sides to end and find a lasting solution to the clashes.
