At least one person has been killed and two others injured after Al-Shabab fighters attacked SNA military base at Takar locality in Gedo region, sources say.
Residents in the area say that Al-Shabab fighters attacked the military based and launched several motor shells on the base before they ambushed it from different directions.
After hours of fighting SNA soldiers managed to push back Al-Shabab fighters, according SNA commanders in the areas.
This comes two day after Somali National Army and AMISOM peacekeeping forces vacated key positions there, laying bare the town for Al-Shabab take-over.
These areas have been recently recovered from Alshabab in a devastating war that saw top government leaders killed, including the deputy district commissioner of Bulo Hawa Mr. Mohamed Yakub and Abdi Hawsar, area police commissioner.
