Operations launched by NISA nets several Al-Shabab suspects

Storyline:National News

Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has conducted security operations in areas located in the outskirt of the capital city suspected to be the hideouts of Al-Shabab fighters arresting dozens of suspected Al-Shabab fighters.

The Agency has claimed dismantlement of Al-Shabab secret cells which were operating in areas between Mogadishu and Afgooye and said would do everything to neutralize the sleeper cells so as to cut off breeding ground for extremism.

Al-Shabab has been weakened as a military and political force since being driven out of the Somali capital Mogadishu by African Union forces. Since then, the group has lost several other important towns including Barawe, Kismayu, Bardhere and Diinsoor which it relied on as a source of revenue and supplies.
