PM Khaire urges S.West administration to relocate to designated capital, Barawe

Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire has encouraged the Southwest state to relocate to the officially designated capital of the state which is Barawe located in the Lower Shabelle region.

Khaire who visited the coastal town Wednesday expressed the historical importance of the coastal town in Somalia and the impending construction of an airport and other development programs in the town.

“I came here to lay the ground breaking stone for an airport that is to be constructed. I also came to encourage the state president and all other officials to relocate to Barawe, the state’s capital headqauters” said Khaire.

The PM also noted the government was determined to pacifying the region to spur development and progress adding the public is also ready to lend support.

“We know that you are ready to fight with the enemy but we shall not let you alone to face them. We shall support and defend you. We will never abandon you to be catered for by others” he added.

Southwest state was formed in June 2014 and the state administration headed by Sheikh Hassan Sheikh Adan has been operating from Baidoa, the headquarters of Bay region since its inception.
