Police in Adado have arrested a 24 year old man suspected to have been involved in the gangrape and murder of a teenager last week in Mogadishu.
Deputy police commissioner Zakia Hussein said Wednesday the man identified as Mohamed Ibrahim Osman was arrested Tuesday night following a tip-off from members of the public.
The arrest of Osman now brings to 12 the number of suspects nabbed by police following the gruesome murder of 19 year Hamdi Mohamed in Mogadishu last Friday. The deceased was allegedly raped by six men and thrown off a six storey building in Waberi district.
The incident sparked public uproar amid calls for enhancement of the Sexual Offenses Law to effectively address such offences in the country.
Parliament is yet to pass the law despite receiving it from the cabinet in mid 2018.
