President Deni meets the newly appointed WFP country director in Garowe

Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has yesterday received delegates from the World Food Program (WFP) led by the newly appointed country director of the United Nations (WFP) in Somalia, Mr Cesar Arroyo.

President Deni held a meeting at his office in the presidential place with the new country Director of WFP accompanied by other senior officials from the UN mission.

During the meeting, the two officials have discussed the general cooperation between Puntland and WFP on humanitarian and development issues as the new director Cesar Arroyo takes his role in Somalia.

President Deni has commended WFP for their extensive work in the country and urged the UN agencies to continue their relief operations in Puntland and the country as a whole.

The WFP Somalia Country Director stressed the full commitment and cooperation with Somalia for the success of several strategic axes of activities.

WFP operates in Somalia to address basic food needs, strengthen coping mechanisms and support efforts to achieve food security.
