President Farmaajo receives credentials from new Indian ambassador

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has today received credentials from the newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to Somalia, Rahul Chabbra.

The President and the ambassador discussed the prospects of strengthening the bilateral relations, relevant international and regional issues.

President Farmajo congratulated Rahul Chabbra on the appointment and wished success in her diplomatic mission.

The ambassador for his part delivered a message of greetings the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and goodwill from the government of India.

The ambassador also stressed that his government will implement developmental projects which play a very important role in a state rebuilding process.

In March 2018 Somalia and India signed an agreement aimed at boosting the cooperation and bilateral relations between Somalia and India.

India has also recently released 120 Somali nationals held for years over piracy-related offences after reaching a prisoner swap agreement in 2017.
