President Mohamed Farmaajo has reiterated his call for public support and cooperation with the security forces to defeat the scourge of terrorism in the country

Speaking ahead of his visit to Ethiopia Tuesday morning, the President said the war against Al-Shabaab and other extremist elements in the country cannot be won by the military alone but must involve the support of the public.

“Our security forces alone cannot manage to deal with insecurity on their own but cities in the world have improved their security with good cooperation between the people and the security forces of the country,” the president said.

The president’s remarks comes following a deadly Al-Shabaab attack in Mogadishu that left 25 people dead and over 100 others injured. Several buildings including shops, hotels and restaurants were destroyed during the attack.

The President noted it was the responsibility of every Somali to defeat ‘the enemy that is destroying our country’. The President yesterday visited victims of the attack who are admitted in hospitals within the city.
