President Farmajo holds talks with Iraqi, Sweden and Italy leaders in EU and AL summit in Egypt

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo attended the European Union Arab League Summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh of Egypt.

The European Union and the countries of Arab League in Egypt was first of its kind to focus on the promotion of cooperation between Europe and the Arab world, solving the challenges to share and to work to secure full to enable the Arab countries to insecurity.

President Farmajo held separate talks with Iraqi President Barham Salih, Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte during the summit.

President Farmajo and his Iraq counterpart Barham Salih discussed the strengthening of relations between the two countries, the fight against terrorism, promoting trade between the two countries and also providing scholarships to Somali students.

The two leaders have also talked about Iraq’s debt cancellation of war-ravaged Somalia.

President Farmaajo and Prime Minister of Sweden Mr Stefan Löfven discussed the strengthening of relations between the two countries and how Sweden would support Somalia’s development and prosperity.

President Farmajo held a meeting with the Italian Prime Minister and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries as he called on the Italian Government to take a major role in the reconstruction of the Armed Forces, the education and training of technical schools.
