President Farmajo in Nairobi to attend a maritime economy conference

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo leading a delegation have early Monday arrived in Nairobi, Kenya to attend three days Maritime Economy Conference.

The three-day conference will focus on the development of the maritime economy, particularly in the fields of investment, the promotion of youth employment, poverty reduction, development of fisheries technology, and protection of the international maritime trajectory.

The Somali Federal Government will present its plans for investment in portfolio modernization, tourism promotion and economic infrastructure in the coastal towns, as Somalia has the longest coastline in Africa.

The Federal Government of Somalia is expected to caution against the illegal fishing in the Somali territories and call the foreign firms to end the illegal trading in Somalia sea boundaries.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is also expected to hold a series of meetings with some of the presidents and delegates from the other countries in the conference to discuss Somalia’s plans for the development of economic infrastructure and investment in the country.

The conference was mutually organized by Canada, Japan and Kenya with more than 4,000 representatives to attend.
