President Farmajo receives credentials of Austria and Canada ambassadors to Somalia

Somalia president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has today received letters of credentials from new Ambassadors of Austria and Canada to Somalia.

The ambassador of the federal republic of Austria, Mr Christian Fellner, delivered a message of greetings from President of the Republic of Austria, Mr Van der Bellen as he also emphasized the effort to boost bilateral relations and thanked the government and the people of Somalia for their warm welcome.

Also, the new Canadian Ambassador to Somalia, Marisa Lisa Stadelbauer, who presented her credentials to the President, said she is happy to be part of the diplomatic community in our country.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on his part has expressed to the new ambassadors on how the federal government of Somalia is committed to strengthening its co-operation and co-operation with the international community.

President Farmajo congratulated the ambassadors on their appointment and wished them success in their diplomatic mission.

Canada established diplomatic relations with Somalia in 1968, but their relations with Somalia were suspended after the collapse of the Somali government in 1991. Following the establishment of the Federal Government of Somalia in 2012, Canada re-established diplomatic relations with Somalia in 2013.

Canada is supporting Somalia in its efforts to build capacity in key economic institutions and to develop sound macroeconomic policies through the International Monetary Fund’s Somalia Trust Fund.
