Puntland and Galmudug withdrawal okay withdrawal of forces from front line

Puntland and Galmudug leaders have jointly agreed the withdrawal of forces from the town barely a day after heavy clash between forces of Puntland and Galmudug killed four people and injured several others.

The resumption of hostilities has renewed talks in Galkaayo airport sought a permanent truce between Puntland and Galmudug and it worked well.

But the peace agreement’s success hinges on the combatants delivering on promises they’ve made and broken before.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday with leaders expressing optimism the agreement would hold and lead to restoration of peace in the town.

The deal crafted by the leaders of Somali, EU and AU delegates, called for a halt to hostilities by Wednesday and withdrawal of fighters  from the battlefields within two days.

About 30 people were killed in the last week and at least 40,000 others displaced.
