Puntland inks MoU with Chinese company to build Eyl port

Puntland government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with a Chinese construction company aimed at the construction of Eyl fishing port in Puntland.

According to information from the meeting between Puntland president Sa’id Deni and officials of the China Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC), the two parties signed an MoU which is expected to open ways for a contract to build the port.

CCECC built Bosaso airport which was officially opened for use in March 2017.

The intent of contract with the Chinese company follows the P&O Ports concession in April 2017 which saw the Emirati ports operator secure 30 years development and management of Bosaso port.
