#COVID19So: Puntland halts public service transport for 15 days

Puntland government has banned public service transport for 15 days in a bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

A statement following security meeting chaired by President Abdullahi Deni noted all public transport vehicles will now end business for 15 days as the easterly state puts in measures to respond to the COVID-19 spread.

The security committee also resolved to put in more measures to curb illegal fishing within the state’s territorial waters.

This move comes after Puntland closed its borders with Somaliland and banned trade with the neighboring break-away region Sunday in the wake of the deadly COVID-19.
