Storyline:National News

Puntland’s State minister for presidency, Mohamed Abas Moalim  has announced that he has stepped down from his post on Saturday in a press conference.

The reason behind the resignation of the state minister is said to be related a corruption on a food aid from Australia meant to the locally displaced persons (IDPs) in the semi-autonomous regional state, according to sources.

Speaking to reporters, the minister  said that it was the right time for him to leave the post.

” I decided to leave the office personally and no one forced me to quit the minister, I will work hand in hand with Puntland government, what i want only leave is the office,” said Moalim.

Puntland, a region in northeastern Somalia, declared itself to be semi-autonomous from Somalia in 1998 as fighting raged through most of the country. Since the region has been calm and had a functioning constitutional government with its own security forces.
