Residents of K50 village are returning back to their homes

Hundreds of displaced residents are returning their homes back after spending weeks in the countryside of the village.

People are coming back in large numbers to see relative calm prevailing in K50 locality in outskirt of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

Returnees piled their belongings on to vehicles in revived hope of stability and reprieve from conflict that claimed at killed at least 10 people.

Ali Nuur Ahmed, K50 villages said local elders from two sides have started ceasefire negotiations that led the deal under which the two sides agreed to pull out their forces from the front lines.

“Actually, the sides signed peace deal and people have craved peace. A wave of families, typically extended households of Somalis are coming back,” said the chief.

The town marked bloody battle between clan militias last month that left dozens injured.
