Security forces seize 500 guns in Mogadishu

The federal governments officials  today stated that  the security officials seized 500 guns so far after they conducted a campaign against illegal weapons in the capital Mogadishu.

Mohamed Yussuf Osman spokesman of the Ministry of National Security, who spoke to the media said the government in its disarmament campaign is trying to prevent weapons from falling into the hands of Al-shabab.

On the other hand, Dahir Amin Jesow, a law maker who heads parliamentary safety committee a safety committee said that the disarmament campaign is very important for the security of Mogadishu.

He suggested negation and even buying weapons from its owners may assist to steer clear of specific grievances during the disarmament campaign.

The disarmament campaign comes after  the cabinet ministers approved a proposed bill on illegal weapons, but hasn’t yet been voted on by the Somali parliament.
