The Senate ad hoc committee appointed last week to resolve the ongoing political row between the Lower House Speaker Mohamed Jawari and PM Khaire will today table its findings.

The committee headed by Senate speaker Abdullahi Hashi is expected to brief senators on the stalemate even as proponents of the motion against the speaker prepare to table it before the Sunday deadline.

The seven member committee was tasked to engage all parties to the conflict in a bid to find an amicable solution. The Senate Business Committee had called on the various committees in the Lower House to cooperate with the ad hoc committee in resolving the matter.

Jawari said last week the motion had attained the quorum threshold and should proceed for debate within a ten days period which lapses Sunday. Both sides have expressed confidence they will succeed in their bid. Mohamed Fiqi (MP) told Goobjoog News Tuesday his team needed only 92 MPs to fight off the motion noting, proponents of the motion had the task of marshaling the numbers.

Mohamed Dalha (MP) told Goobjoog News the motion was in defense of the Prime Minister after it emerged the ‘other side was preparing a motion against him’.

To dethrone the speaker or deputies, a minimum of 184 MPs must cast their vote in favour.
