A senior electoral official in Kenya in charge of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) has been found dead barely a week before the East African country goes to the polls.

Local media reports say the body of Chris Msando whose docket is very critical in relaying the electoral results was found in Kiambu town, some 30 km north of the capital Nairobi.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had said Friday Msando was missing and police found his vehicle Monday in a city estate.

The electoral results transmission has been a hotly contested issue in the upcoming polls and Msando was tasked with overseeing the electronic vote transmission system. His death is a blow to the electoral body which was today expected to conduct a mock exercise of the results transmission ahead of the August 8 poll.
