SNA kills 9 Al-Shabab fighters in security operation

Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers killed 9 Al-Shabab fighters in security operation carried out by SNA in and around Mahas town over night, military official said.

Mohamud Mumin Sanay, SNA commandant Said the members were pursued by the SNA soldiers and killed, impounding AK 47 rifles, IEDs and assorted ammunition.

“The fighters were attacked when SNA soldiers conducting security operations in the area and they to repulse but were killed.” Said Sanay

He stated the attack which took place on Sunday night in the town netted tens of suspected Al-Shabab fighters.

“The attack was repulsed but successful one. During the firefight, several others fled with injuries and hot pursuit is currently under way,” he said.

He added “We appeal to the locals in the area to report to the security agencies anybody seeking medical assistance or any suspicious-looking individuals who might attempt to hide in the area.”

Al-Shabab fighters, who want to topple internationally recognized Somali government, have sped up their attacks on SNA and AMISOM military bases in different parts of the country.
