Somali National Army conducted a distractive operation against Al-Shabab on the outskirt of Balad town and took off the control of Danida village from militias. The operation which took place in the Danida village killed two Al-Shabab leaders and inured another one in battle filed leading militia to flee from their location.
Government troops also destroyed a building that militias used to take extort money from Public Service Vehicles heading to Beledweyn town in Hirshabelle region.
Resident in the area told Sonna news that the army had taken over Al-Shabaab militia base. The operation was part of an effort established by the army to undermine the ability of the militant and secure the road between Balad via Jowhar District.
