SNA seize areas in Hiiran region of central Somalia

Reports from Hiiran region in central Somalia indicates that the Somalia National Army forces backed with the African Union troops have taken over areas in Hiran region.

The troops, who have left Beledweyn town early Sunday morning to Bulo-Burde district, have encountered several attacks from Al-Shabaab group on the way.

Senior military officials have confirmed that the Somalia national army backed with African Union forces have taken over Bardheere and Nuur Fanah from the Al-Shabaab in Hiran region.

Al-Shabaab fighters have yesterday taken over areas near the Bala’d district of Middle Shabelle region of Somalia after the Somali National Army was reported to have withdrawn from the areas.

Al-Shabaab group has suffered sustained pressure from joint operations by Somali army and Amisom forces.
