SNA shot two Al-Shabab fighters in Awdheegle, Lower Shabelle region

Somali National Army killed two Al-Shabab militias in Awdinle town, about 30km from Baidoa, the headquarters of the Bay region. The forces also captured another two fighters alive and their weapons in the operation.

The commander of the 60th Infantry Division, Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi Osman, told the media that the operation was planned and carried out by the 8th Battalion of the country’s armed forces.

Mohammed pointed out that the operation is part of security operations planned to flash out Al-Shabab elements in Somalia.

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces, working in joint planning and operations with the Somalia Security Forces (SSF) have liberated Al-Shabab from Awdheegle in August 2019.
