SNA seize areas in Bardhere under Al-Shabaab rule

Somali forces have seized areas previously under control of the militant group Al-Shabaab in Bardhere in Gedo region.

The operation which lasted for three days saw the national army reclaim Raydab and Daar Maalin areas from Al-Shabaab control.
Mohamed wali Abdullahi Hersi, the commander of the 49th Brigade of the 1st Battalion of the 43rd Division said residents had complained to the army about Al-Shabaab harassment including forced paid of extortion money.

The forces yesterday killed at least 10 Al-Shabaab militants in the area and are now in full control.
