The President of Somali Football Federation Mr. Abdiqani Said Arab has announced the increase of the number of clubs participating in the SFF Nation Link Telecom championship.

President Arab made the announcement in a press statement released on Sunday after consultative meetings with the SFF executive board and as well as the authorities of football clubs in the country.

In the past, the Somali Football league had only 8 teams in participation, but due to the needs for having a greater league, the SFF has taken the decision to increase the league participation from 8 to 10 clubs.

The expansion of the league participation was one of several developmental goals announced by the SFF president Abdiqani Said Arab in his post election address a month ago.

“To have a greater league will result in having more matches played and that will make the league more competitive and as well as more interesting and that is why as a president I have decided to increase the league participation after consultations with my executive committee and football clubs” SFF president Abdiqani Said Arab said in his press release on Sunday.

The development has attracted much welcome and appreciation from the authorities of Football Clubs in the country who praised the president for realizing the implementation of one of several pledges he made in a few weeks time.

However, the 2014-2015 National league will kick off on Friday 19th December as shown in the released fixtures.
