Mogadishu local government has vowed to bring to book the perpetrators of Sunday morning attack on TV journalist in Mogadishu, the latest in a series of attacks against the press in Somalia.

TV cameraman working for UK-based Somali channel, Universal TV, Abdihamid Mohamed Karzay was critically wounded in car bomb blast when an explosive device suspected to have been fitted in his car exploded in Hamarweyne district en-route to his workplace.

Mogadishu city spokesman Abdifatah Afrah Halane condemned the attack  and blamed Al-Shabaab for the attack.

Halane said the government will probe the attack and prosecute those behind the attack.

“We have set up a team to investigate the attack that happened this morning,” said Halane.

There is no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.

Few cases have been brought to court in Somalia in connection with the attacks on Somali journalists.
