Storyline:National News, Security

Federal Government of Somalia and U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting al-Shabaab militias in the vicinity of Janaale on late Tuesday afternoon in Lower Shabelle, southwest Somalia.

In a statement released by US AFRICOM also stated the airstrike killed five al-Shabab fighters in the attack and indicated no civilians were injured or killed as a result of this airstrike.

“Our strikes are a key effort to combatting terror and helping to bring stability to Somalia,” said U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Miguel Castellanos, U.S. Africa Command deputy director of operations. “Not only do they degrade al-Shabaab’s ability to conduct violent activities in the region, but they illuminate the fighter network and impede the al-Qaida affiliated terrorist organization’s ability to recruit and export terrorism.”

On the other hand, Al-Shabab accused US military killing Somali civilians and attributed US military packed with Somali government troop’s statement released fake news lacking evidence including the person killed name, title and his location of duty.
