Somali Interior & Federal Minister seeks approval for two National Commissions

Addressing before the Federal Parliament- the minster Abdirhman Odawa briefed the procedure and mechanisms that was basis for the establishment of these two respective committees.

The National Election Commission election and commission for Federalism and Borderies are now tabled before Federal Parliament for approval.

The Minister said they did everything possible in their power to observe the country power sharing norms in the selection of two commission members.

He also said competence was prime criteria for selection process “many have applied this job but we picked this gentlemen and madams within the line education and competence”

Some members of the parliament raised objections on the legal basis of commission’s creation and asked the Minister to consider the Federal States consent before the approval of commission by Federal Parliament.
