Somali navy force will celebrate tomorrow its 53rd year since its formation on the 10th February 1964 across the country where special ceremony will be held in Mogadishu.

The current commander of the Somali navy force Brigadier General Abdiweli Jama Gorod has sent his congratulatory message on behalf of the Somali people to the coastal force guards.

“I am congratulating all the navy personnel from the highest to the lowest rank” said Brigadier General Gorod.

In 2012, Hürriyet Daily News, a Turkish English paper published that Turkey provided the fledgling Somali government with a coast guard boat to boost it assets against the country’s pirates in the form a barter trade through fish with Somalia which is situated on the coast of the Indian Ocean, catches some of the world’s most delicious fish. A navy boat cost US $10 million which is far-fetched from the affordability of the feeble Somali government.

Sources from the Turkish foreign ministry rubbished the move as being unaware of such a proposal adding that a defense industry deal with the civil unrest-hit nation required a U.N. Security Council approval.
