Former Puntland leader asks parliament to endorse new cabinet without delay

Storyline:National News

The former president of semi-autonomous regional state of Puntland, Abdirahman Mohamud Faroole on Tuesday urged the House of People to approve the proposed cabinet.

Faroole lashed out at the lawmakers who opposed the line up by the prime minister saying that the PM is mandated to nominate ministers based on their competence and experience, not by their clan affiliation or clan’s power-sharing agreement.

“It is a shame to disperse our internal affairs outside, We should not always create political turmoil, as an elder, I urge the MPs to approve the government and let the assessment and review on their achievement be later,” said Faroole

He called on the new cabinet ministers to move forward with the new government’s agenda to tackle Somalia’s challenges if they get the vote of confidence by the House.

The sentiment of Faroole coincides with the similar call by the leader of Southwest State, Shariif Hassan Sheikh Adan.

The prime minister is expected to present his proposed cabinet to parliament for approval this week.
