Somali Parliament passes Refugees and IDPs Bill

Somali Federal Parliament has today passed the long waited refugees and IDPS bill with absolute majority of 155 members out of 156, as the only remained MP abstained from voting.

The bill calls, the immediate reestablishment of Somali Higher Refugee Commission which will be responsible all matters of refugees in the country .

Ahmad-Dahir the current director of Somali higher refugee commission welcomed the passage of the bill “ Somali Federal Parliament did a good job today. Besides the legitimacy that it gives to the refugee commission, 1/3 of Somali nationals are relieved today”

The unrest of last 26 years made Somalia to go in the list of the countries that have the highest rates of refugees and Internally displaced people in the world.
