Somali president officially opens seventh session of the parliament

Somalia’s president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has officially opened the seventh session of the Federal Parliament after two months of a holiday and delivered speech on the terrorism and political rifts engulfed the country.

Somali prime minister, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharma’arke, deputy prime minister, Omar Arte Qalib Chairperson of the supreme court, Aydid Abdullahi Ilka-hanaf and many of the members of the national lawmakers attended to the opening the session today on Sunday.

President Hassan delivered a long speech on various angles based on the urgent need to pass the proposed bills including anti-terrorism bill and foreign investment bill.

The president said the government is doing its best to handle and achieve challenges and turn the country into a better situation and called on politicians to work hand in hand to lead the country towards prosperity.

Meanwhile the speaker of parliament Mohamed Osman Jawari informed lawmakers at the house of the people that there are many hard works on the table with little time and urged them to get ready for those tasks ahead.

The speaker commended the constitution review commission for its tireless work.

“The commission has done most of its work and we appreciate the marvelous job it has done therefore we urge it to keep it with same spirit” he said.

Opening the session of the Somali Federal Parliament today comes after a week of delay to the scheduled time table set to open and two months of holiday according to the some members of national lawmakers.
