Somali president says Inter-State football competition was a sign of development

The president of the federal republic of Somalia Prof. Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, said that the country’s first Inter-state football tournament has
marked an enormous sign of peace and development in the country.

Addressing at the conclusion ceremony for the Inter-estate soccer event on Wednesday evening, president Hassan Sheik Mahmoud, said that the maiden football tournament was a major step taken towards the right direction which shows that Somalia was reviving.

“The organization of the inter-state football tournament was a very good start for the new Somalia. It was a successful test which demonstrates
that Somalia is moving forward and recovering from the damages caused by the long-standing chaos” president Hassan Sheik Mahmud said in his closing remarks.

He said that the launch of the first Inter-state football competition sent a message of peace, development and public integration to the outside
world, adding that Somalia is now back.

President Hassan Sheik Mahmoud, commended the Somali Football Federation for the introduction of the football event which was the first of its kind since the federal system was endorsed in Somalia.

“Football is all about peace. It creates publicity for the people and it encourages the progress of the country” Somali president said in his
closing address adding that his government was committed to supporting football promotion in the country.
