Somali prime minister condemns Beach View attack

Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke has unreservedly condemned the attack on Beach View yesterday evening carried out by Al Shabab.

He stated that this kind of savage attacks on densely populated civilian areas demonstrates the group is on the verge of annihilation thus embarking on desperate attacks to cause mayhem and confusion.

“It is apparently clear that these barbaric attacks carried out by the terrorist Al Shabab is against the socio-development and Somalia to exist as a Nation, but let it remain clear that it will not hamper the commitment of my Government ” said Sharmarke in statement.

Sharmarke commended the gallant Security forces who saved many lives and limited the damage intended by the savage terrorist group

On Thursday evening Al-Shabab fighters rammed the gates of Beach View with car bomb before gunmen fought their way into the building where they killed more than  20 people and injured 40 others.

Somali internal security minister, Abdirisaq Mohamed said the leader of the attackers was captured alive and his accomplices were killed in the attack.

Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack, in a broadcast on its online radio Radio Andulus late on Thursday.

Al-Shabab attacked Kenyan peacekeepers in south-western Somalia last week were the group claimed to have killed about 100 Kenyans and seized weapons and military vehicles.
