Somalia confirms 49 new COVID 19 cases in the past 24 hours

In the process of the daily report, the Somali government has registered 49 cases of COVID-19 and 4 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Government, Fowziya Abikar Nur, also has confirmed that no new patients have died. The regions that have been recorded the new cases as follows: in Banadir 26, Southwest 9, Puntland 8 and Somaliland 6 patients.

The new cases announced on Wednesday afternoon, 38 are men while another 11 are women. The COVID-19 cases recorded across the country reaches 1,219 while the total death stands 52 people and 130 have recovered so far.

Abikar noted that lack of community awareness support the virus highly spreading in the country, adding to another planning to expand the COVID19 community screening is underway and the federal member states will be provided more additional tools to help the control of pandemic spread in the society.
